Camera to PDF

Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded

Photograph paper, get one PDF

Point your phone or laptop camera at a page, capture it, and collect the pages into a single PDF. The capture, the page order and the PDF are all assembled in your browser. Your photographs are never sent anywhere.

What this does with your pages

    Capture stays on your device

Frames come straight off the camera into a canvas in this tab. There is no upload endpoint in this site, which you can verify by opening your browser's network panel while you scan.

    The PDF is built here

Pages are assembled into a PDF in the tab and handed to your browser as a download. The photographs you took never leave memory, and closing the tab discards them.

    Chrome gets the best scan

Browsers differ in the resolution they can capture. The badge above reports the actual number on your device rather than guessing from the browser name.

    Common uses

If you arrived with one of these in mind, there is a page that goes into it properly.

    Receipts and invoices for bookkeeping

Scanning a year of receipts in batches, and what to do with the file afterwards.

    Contracts and signed documents

Keeping a copy of an agreement you can actually find later, without sending it to a scanning service.

    Home inventory for insurance

Photographing rooms and serial numbers so there is a record of what you own.

    Questions

    Does anything get uploaded?

No. There is no endpoint on this site that accepts an image or a PDF. The camera stream is read into a canvas, the pages are held in memory as compressed images, and the PDF is assembled in the tab. Open your browser's network panel while you scan and you will see the page itself load and nothing else.

One honest caveat, on the privacy page: this site shows advertising, and Google's advertising code reads the page you are on and sets cookies. It never receives your photographs or your PDF.

Which browser gives the best scan?

Chrome on Android and on desktop. Those browsers can use ImageCapture.takePhoto(), which reaches the camera's full still-image resolution rather than the lower resolution of the video stream. On a typical phone that is about 474 DPI on a Letter page against roughly 150 DPI, which is the difference between legible small print and an unusable smudge.

The resolution badge above reports what your browser actually delivered, so you do not have to take our word for it.

Will it read the text in my receipts?

No. This is a capture tool, not an OCR tool. It produces an accurate image of each page, which is what you need to file, print or hand to a bookkeeper, but it will not extract the total or the vendor name as text.

We are not adding OCR. A browser text-recognition model is a large download, and this page is deliberately small and fast.

Does it stamp a watermark or limit pages?

No watermark, and no account. There is a limit on pages per download, shown above the camera, because the images are held in memory and a phone will run out before the file does. The limit scales with the memory your device reports.

    Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, and you will need to grant camera access from a tap rather than on page load, which is an iOS rule rather than ours. How much resolution you get depends on the browser; the badge tells you. Chrome on iOS uses the same engine as Safari, so for the sharpest capture use Chrome on an Android phone or a laptop.
